I heard someone say ‘count your blessings’ before their child went to bed one night. Admittedly, I hadn’t heard that phrase in a long time, but it gave me pause. Every night I write in my journal. I usually ended up writing about my day and all that I have encountered. I’ve tried to make it a ‘Gratitude Journal’ but sometimes I get off track. I have always had the goal of counting my blessings every night, I just sometimes fall short. I get caught up in that day’s happenings.
I am very blessed, but I don’t believe that blessings are just bestowed upon us. I have worked hard and I have earned everything that I have. But that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t take the time to be grateful. Gratitude is the start of something wonderful: humility and graciousness. Two qualities that I believe make a successful person.
So tonight when I pick up my journal, I am going to be gracious in all I write. I am going to count my blessings before I dwell on the day’s happenings. I know that I have the discipline to make my journal a ‘Gratitude Journal’.
