“Losers live in the past. Winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present toward the future.” -Denis Waitley
I love this quote by Denis Waitley because it sets our priorities. Is our priority the past and everything we can’t change? Or is it the present day planning for the future?
This quote actually reminds me of a line from one of my favorite movies Cape Fear. “If you hold on to the past, you die a little each day. And for myself, I know I’d rather live.”
There is nothing for us in the past except lessons learned. Those who live in the past are surrendering their lives to it. I want each and every day to be my own. I want to use my past experience to build on my present day life. I don’t want to keep reliving things that happened in the past hoping for a different outcome. The past cannot be changed. But our present and future sure can. I’m in charge of my thoughts and, ultimately, my life. And I intend on making it an exceptional one.
