Pilates and Me



Today, I had my first Pilates private lesson.  It was awesome!  A truly transforming experience.  I got to see and feel my body react to the different exercises and it was quite a eye opener.  I was stronger on some exercises than I was on others.  My legs are the strongest followed by my arms.  Sadly, my core muscles were much weaker than I thought.  It was also very different using the various Pilates apparatus to help me with each exercise.  Other than a few small props, yoga is done without any assistance.  I’m very familiar with yoga and love its practice.  However, Pilates uses each apparatus for a number of different exercises that allow your body to work in ways that it couldn’t on its own.

I will be taking more private Pilates sessions in  the future and I’m sure I’ll blog more about my experiences in the coming months.
