“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” -John Quincy Adams
There is so much information available about leadership. Thousands of books have been written about it. Hundreds, if not thousands, of seminars, workshops and conferences have been held on it. Why are some of us seeking to be leaders? Don’t we need followers in order to have leaders? I believe some of us are here to lead the flock and we just know it inherently. There will always be leaders and, by necessity, there will always be followers.
Leadership seems to be either natural to some or elusive to others. Some need no instruction and are what is called “born leaders”. Others need to be taught the fundamentals of leadership: vision, good judgment, communication skills and plenty of other skills that a leader must possess. Whether you are a born leader or a learned leader, the principles you must possess remain the same.
Returning to President Adams’ quote above, to be a leader you must be inspirational. That is, you must inspire others to be more than they are today. I hope this blog inspires you to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. I strive to give you that type of inspiration with every blog post.
